The popover content is usually emitted from a button, an action, a pointer, or another control, which is similar to how Ionic\u2019s modals or actionsheets work. It\u2019s a common interaction seen on iPad apps and other aliases, including drop downs, menus, chips, etc.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Popovers provide an easy way to present or gather information from the user and are commonly used to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Show more info about the current view<\/li>\n<li>Select a commonly used tool or configuration within a list<\/li>\n<li>Present a list of actions to perform inside one of your views<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/img\/blog\/popover-preview.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"body-image lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/ionic.io\/img\/blog\/coride-app-preview.pngblog\/popover-preview.gif\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"body-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ionic.io\/img\/blog\/coride-app-preview.pngblog\/popover-preview.gif\"><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like with all of Ionic\u2019s other components, its goal is to give the developer full control of creating a popover, and continue to take advantage of all the niceties of AngularJS, such as template files, controllers, scoped variables, etc.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: right; margin-right: -160px\">\n<div class=\"phone-case\">\n<p data-height=\"568\" data-theme-id=\"3572\" data-slug-hash=\"GpCst\" data-default-tab=\"result\" class=\"codepen\">See the Pen by <a href=\"http:\/\/codepen.io\/ionic\/pen\/GpCst\">Ionic<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/codepen.io\/ionic\">@ionic<\/a>) on <a href=\"http:\/\/codepen.io\">CodePen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>  <script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/codepen.io\/assets\/embed\/ei.js\"><\/script>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The popover itself is another view, not simply a preformatted list. This means anything you can do within a standard view, you can do within a popover. Scrollable areas, header bars, header buttons, content areas, form inputs, etc., can all be used no differently that a standard view. Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/ionicframework.com\/docs\/api\/service\/$ionicPopover\/\">popover documentation<\/a> for more.<\/p>\n<p>By default, Ionic\u2019s popover comes in three styles: Base, iOS and Android. The base style, as you guessed it, is the base style that each platform overrides. Each of the platforms have subtle differences, but those differences ensure a consistent interface for the platform from which it\u2019s being run.
